Pre-tensioning is accomplished by stressing wires or strands, to predetermined force by stretching them between two anchorages prior to placing concrete. The concrete is then placed and the wires/strands become bonded to concrete throughout their length.
Technology
After concrete has hardened, the tendons are released by cutting then at the anchorages area. The tendons tend to regain their original length by shortening and in this process transfer through bond a compressive stress to the concrete.
The tendons are usually stressed by hydraulic jacks where the wires/strands are anchored at the end of abutments. This abutments and formwork are called pre-stressing beds.
Mettic Pre-Tensioning Jacks are designed uncompromising quality for high performance. It is not only designed for high performance, it is also designed for optimum safety.
Our jacks are designed up to 30 tons capacity and fitted with anti-rotating bars.
The available jack as as following;
Mettic Multiuse Barrel & Wedges has 2 designs. The 1st design is for the live end anchorage whereas the 2nd design is for the dead end anchorage.
Both our barrel and wedges are manufactured with high tensile alloy steels with high degree of dimensional accuracies. The special care we take for the manufacturing process is due to the multiuse of the barrel and wedges.
Our Mettic Multiuse Barrel & Wedges is manufactured to suit 4mm, 6mm & 8mm wire strand and also to suit 12.7/12.9mm & 15.2/15.9mm strands.
Mettic Strand Connector is mainly used to connect strand in mid-span of the stressing bed. By using the Mettic Strand Connector, the wastage of strands can be reduced.
Mettic Strand Connector can be used for both 12.7/12.9mm & 15.2/15.7mm diameter strands.
